It was such an honor to be asked to photograph an event at Crystal Peak Youth Ranch last week.  I tell you, that place is holy ground.   If you haven't been there, plan on coming to one of the worship services.  We start with a potluck dinner, always yummy foods and great fellowship.  We then move to an awesome time of worship led by Troy and his band.   A great experience not to be missed, worship is usually scheduled for the second Tuesday of the month.

Last week, however, was a three day conference for those interested in starting ministries similar to what Crystal Peak provides -- "a safe & positive experience for children and families to learn about the saving hope of Jesus Christ in an authentic western environment".  But really, people, it is so much MORE.  This blurb says it all, and is taken directly from their site:

"The heart of our Session Program is to provide a safe place for children, horses and families to experience hope, healing and encouragement. In each session, through a myriad of methods, there is one main purpose—to Mentor the Child through the love of Jesus.

This is accomplished by inviting children to come just as they are. The leaders of Crystal Peaks work hard to pair kids with an activity or horse that will encourage them forward toward hope and personal growth.

All activities are chosen at the discretion of each individual leader. Some of these session activities include working with/riding horses, crafts, games, chores, woodworking and life skills. With the goal of relational investment in mind, the leaders of Crystal Peaks use a variety of activities, such as riding horses, games, chores, woodworking, etc. to build an intentional one-on-one relationship with each child. Each leader works to tailor each session to meet the needs and desires of each individual child and to encourage them forward toward hope and personal growth."

The three day conference taught, encouraged and empowered more than 100 people and it was a JOY to witness.  Here are just a few pics from my files.

On the ranch, every detail is considered & made beautiful.  They even painted the horses!  isn't that so sweet??   life confirming words!!

People -- if you're in Central Oregon (especially Bend, Sisters, Redmond, Terrebonne, Tumalo), DO go check it out!  You'll see me there Tuesday, June 11th!!
