We met the K family on November 11th at our home studio in Danville, California, for a family portrait session ahead of the Christmas season.
It’s baby Lyra’s first Christmas, so this beautiful family wanted to make sure they documented the occasion. We were happy to help, of course. We think it’s so important to capture these moments in time, especially those “firsts.” They only happen once, after all!
Little Lyra is a very happy baby, but we had a heck of a time getting her to smile during our sessions. She was so curious about everything—but so serious! We really wanted to get that happy Christmas feeling in these pictures, but try as we might, it was so difficult to get those beaming looks from her. What a thoughtful, pensive little face she has! She looked like a little doll in her beautiful winter outfits.
We have to give full credit to Dad for the few smiles we got. His antics were exactly what we needed. He was playing peek-a-boo and singing her favorite songs to get her to smile—and it worked! Sometimes, you just need Daddy to step in and be the hero of the day. Watching the way that little Lyra lit up as she watched her father was truly heartwarming. Little ones at this age have just a touch of apprehension towards new faces, but there’s so much love for their parents. We loved seeing them interact together as a family.
K family, thank you for coming to our studio for this important milestone in your lives. We’re so thrilled for this “first Christmas” for you, and we hope you have a very Merry Christmas together.
